Our Focus Areas

Health

One in every 20 children die under the age of 5 in India, and Maternal Mortality Rate is nearly 13 times more than the average of High-Income Countries. In 2016, a two-fold difference in disease burden rate was present between Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh being the highest, and Kerala and Goa, the lowest.

Nutrition

Every second pregnant woman is anemic, while a quarter of women in the reproductive age are undernourished. Globally, India is home to one-third of the world’s stunted children. The intergenerational cycle of malnutrition remains a silent crisis with an adverse impact on productivity and economic development.

Education & 21st Century Skills

In 2018-2019, the drop-out rate at the secondary level was 17.9 and 39.4 percent of the adolescent girls in the age group of 15-18 years were not going to any educational institution. Investment in education and skills helps break the seemingly intractable intergenerational cycle of poverty. CKD believes in the multiplier effects of educated and trained girls as they confound gender- stereotyped roles and build agency.

Climate Change

The Climate crisis acts as a ‘threat multiplier’, leaving women increasingly vulnerable to gender-based violence, the effects of future disasters, health threats and other gender inequalities. Women historically are at a double disadvantage with negligible participation in environmental management. CKD prioritizes analysis and corrective action on the differential impact experienced by women, children…

Livelihood & Employability

A country with a promising demographic dividend India still stands at the cusp of opportunity and challenge. Ranked 140 th among 156 nations, in the World Economic Forum 2021 Gender Gap Report, India has a declining female workforce participation (17.5 percent, compared to 55.5 percent of men, PLFS 2018-2019).

Knowledge Management

Information is power. The development sector has a culture that embraces learning, sharing and evolving, constantly innovating solutions to address complex challenges. At CKD, knowledge management is key to effectively collate this knowledge generated, share learnings, by providing faster and more effective access to relevant internal and external insights…
